Alpha Psi members share a passion for caring for one another and their surrounding communities. In balance with our focus on scholarship and philanthropy, we provide numerous opportunities for social growth. Below you will find descriptions of the numerous types of events we hold throughout each quarter.
Sisterhood Events
Our unique sisterhood is what sets Alpha Psi apart from any other sorority on campus. We pride ourselves on the strength of our bond, and we achieve this bond through sisterhood events in which we aim to connect with and support our sisters as we experience college together. These events can range from Valentine's Day gatherings, brunch, kickboxing classes, rollerskating dates, group hikes, candle making, and pumpkin patch trips.
Socials With Other Orgs
Alpha Psi is very active in the Greek and non-Greek Community, this includes maintaining our relationships with many of the fraternities and sports teams at UC Santa Cruz. Our socials are a great way to expand your Santa Cruz community and make lasting friendships! Alpha Psi socials always have a theme. This past year we've had a blast co-hosting socials such as "Bob Ross" with Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, "What Do You Meme?" with the Rugby team, "Bratz" with Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, "Daytona 500" with the Soccer team and many more!
Philanthropies
We love giving back to our community, so Alpha Psi frequently volunteers for many non-profit organizations and holds special events, including the Kid's Triathlon, She's Beautiful Race, clothing drives, and much more.
Special Events
Alpha Psi's date parties are well known and loved by all! Every Fall, we hold a Semi- Formal and our annual Alpha Psi Birthday Party. We invite our alumni to return for Birthday Party to celebrate Alpha Psi's founding. Traditionally, in the Winter, we will hold a Formal in a special location. Often times, we travel for the weekend to a new city as a sorority. During the Spring, we have another Semi- Formal that we call "Crush". For all of our special events, sisters get to bring one person of their choosing, whether it be a date or good friend. We always have a ton of fun!
Greek Week
Alpha Psi loves a good competition! Every Spring, UC Santa Cruz hosts Greek Week for the entire Greek Community. Different Greek orgs are teamed up together and compete against each other in a variety of sporting/trivia events. The final event, Lip Sync, is the most looked forward to event of the season. Each Greek organization creates and performs a dance/ lip sync routine in a heated competition that is judged by a panel of representatives from each individual org. When you join Alpha Psi, you are not only joining a sisterhood but, also, gaining an entire greek community.
Near and Dear Weekend
We love meeting the people who raised our lovely sisters... So, we made a weekend just for them! Once a year, we organize a weekend of special events where sisters are encouraged to bring their paternal figures. We use the events to show our paternal figures just how much we appreciate them! It is always a very special weekend for everyone.
